Associate Professor Doctor Koichi Kobayashi

Koichi Kobayashi obtained his PhD from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2007 in the research on the biosynthesis pathway of plant chloroplast lipids. During two postdoc periods, he studied the regulatory mechanism of chlorophyll biosynthesis in plants. After working on plant lipid metabolism and photosynthesis as an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo, he joined the Osaka Prefecture University as an associate professor in 2018. Osaka Prefecture University changed to Osaka Metropolitan University in 2022, and now he is affiliated with Osaka Metropolitan University. His research group in Department of Biology, Graduate School of Science, Osaka Metropolitan University, focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate chloroplast development and photosynthesis in plants. His group is interested in the coordination mechanisms of lipid metabolism and photosynthetic complex formation during thylakoid membrane biogenesis.
