Françoise Bernerd

After a PhD thesis in 1990 from the University of Nice-Sophia-Antipolis France, in cutaneous biology and a Post-Doctoral Position in molecular biology, at the New-York University, Department of Dermatology, USA, I joined L’Oréal Research and Innovation in 1992, in Clichy, France. Head of the “Light and Pigmentation” research group in the Advanced Research, my research programs were in the fields of Photobiology and Photoprotection, Skin Aging and Pigmentation. By developing in vitro three dimensional human skin models, I studied cellular, biochemical and molecular effects of solar Ultraviolet light, designing and evaluating new photoprotection concepts and sunscreens, as well as anti-aging molecules. I also developed transversal programs from clinics to biology on constitutive skin pigmentation and pigmentary disorders. I have been appointed as L’Oréal R&I Expertise Fellow in 2013.
