Dr Carla Arnau

Dr Carla Arnau del Valle received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of East Anglia (UK) in 2022; which focused on the development and application of novel near-infrared excitable (nano)materials for the detection and quantification of intracellular analytes. She was awarded the donor-founded FJW Oncology Scholarship (2018), shortlisted for The British Federation of Women Graduates Academic Award (2021), honored with the Special Merit in Research Award (2022) and selected to participate in the 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2022). She has been awarded the Best PhD thesis award from the European Society for Photobiology (2023). She is currently a postdoctoral associate at the University of Maryland (US) working on the development of nanoformulations for the targeted photodynamic therapy of ovarian cancer. Furthermore, she has recently been awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship and will be conducting her research at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain).
