Doctor Adriana Gabriela Casas

Adriana Casas is a Principal Researcher at the Argentine Research Council (CONICET). She obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires in 1996. She also served as an honorary fellow at University College London and as a researcher at the Wellcome Trust. Currently, she works at the Research Center of Porphyrins and Porphyrias (CIPYP) in Argentina and is the founder of the Light-assisted Therapy Laboratory at Hospital de Clínicas, Buenos Aires. With over 75 publications in the field of PDT, she has authored or co-authored numerous works. She has received seven scientific awards. Her areas of expertise encompass photodynamic therapy of cancer and bacterial photoinactivation. She has conducted postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain, and University College London, UK. She is widely recognized as a leading authority in ALA-mediated PDT and its derivatives, as well as in mechanisms of resistance.
